24 Hours (or less) in Florence

Italy has a vast amount of beautiful and historic cities.  It’s very possible to take a tour of the country and spend a day in a few cities along the way.  If you happen to make your way to Florence with only a day to spare here are 6 sites that will fill your time.

 

1. Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore

This is the main church of Florence that is often referred to as the Duomo which is Italian for cathedral.  It’s made up of a distinctive mosaic tile and is a must-see landmark in Florence.

2. Cook Eat Italian

There’s no better way to experience the deliciousness of food in Italy than to take a cooking class with a local.  Cook Eat Italian offers hands on cooking classes straight out of the chief’s home kitchen!

 

 


3. Piazzale Michelangelo 

Michelangelo square has the best panoramic view of the city and features a bronze cast of Michelangelo’s famous David statue.

4. Giardino dell’Iris 

Located next to Piazzale Michelangelo is a rose garden that is perfect for a relaxing stroll to take in the scenic views.

 

 


5. La Carraia Gelato

The line to this gelateria was out of the door but it was worth the wait!

6. Ristorante Osteria Pepo

When you’re ready for dinner head to Osteria Pepo.  It’s a small cozy restaurant with a homey feel.  They even give you a glass of prosecco while you wait to be seated.
